Last night's Commons debate was a revelation to watch. MPs from both sides of the House were united in defence of the thousands of small IFAs who feel that the FSA has ridden RDR style roughshod over them, having no regard to their rights and expectations and viewing their loss in the community as simply "loss of capacity".

IFA letter of the week. If an IFA's business has income of say £100K 50/50 initial and trail and a Network takes 15% then the Network earns £7,500 on initial and £7,500 on trail i.e. £15K per IFA member.

RDR debate 20 October 2010. It is a great pleasure to serve under your chairmanship, Mr Caton. I hope the Minister will forgive me for holding this debate on a day when he probably has quite a few other things on. As he knows, however, such debates are a bit of a lottery, and I was not expecting mine to come up today.

Mark left the investment banking world in 1999, setting up his own small businesses in investment management, in which he still has an interest. So, IFAs can be sure that this is someone who understands the financial services marketplace and how small firms are impacted by regulation.
