Alpha Generators names speakers for 2014 series

Alpha Generators is pleased to announce the dates and speaker line up for its fifth annual Alpha Generators Roadshow, the seminar series that explores the investment and income potential of different asset classes.

United by the belief that an active investment management approach is essential in generating alpha, Alpha Generators brings together five of the industry's leading investment houses for the 2014 series. The speakers and topics under discussion include the following:

• Oliver Boulind, Head of Global Credit, Rich Smith, Portfolio Manager and David Lloyd–Nolan, Fixed Income Product Specialist at Aberdeen will argue the need to embrace a diversified and global approach to investing in fixed income, with a particular emphasis on global strategic bond strategies. 

• Looking at how lower risk equities can generate strong absolute returns both now and in the future, BlackRock’s Portfolio Managers Alice Gaskell, Andreas Zoellinger and Product Strategist Matt Williams will demonstrate how the Gold-rated (S&P Capital IQ) BlackRock Continental European Income Fund uses a flexible investment approach to navigate the changing economic environment.

• Guy Glover, Fund Manager of the F&C UK Property Fund, will discuss the income generation role of property in a well-balanced investment portfolio.  He believes the property market has reached an inflection point, with capital growth coming through in recent months, which should be supported by improvements in the occupational market and the shortage of new supply.

• Skye Macpherson, Portfolio Manager – Global Resources for First State Investments, will consider the investment opportunities across the agricultural value chain, as the global agricultural industry meets the challenges of population growth and resource availability in order to feed the world. 

• Neptune’s Rebecca Edelman, Manager of the Neptune US Income Fund, will outline why she believes the US remains one of the most attractive equity markets globally, underpinned by long-term structural drivers including energy independence, a manufacturing comeback and the 'great rotation'.

The Alpha Generators roadshow events will be moderated by Julian Marr, Editorial Director of Adviser-Hub.co.uk, who said: “The Alpha Generators series is an excellent opportunity for advisers to meet managers face to face and quiz them about the big investment themes with the potential to generate good returns on behalf of their clients.  Sourcing income has been a goal for investors in the prevailing low rate environment, and the interest we have had for spaces at the 2014 seminars so far suggests the hunt for yield will continue.”

The roadshow will run from Monday 27^th January to Tuesday 4^th February, and will stop at Edinburgh, Harrogate, Knutsford, Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Newmarket, London and Guildford.
