Content is king

Every year we undertake a content survey amongst our community members, yes that is you and your peers.

We feel it vital to ensure that the brands that support what we do deliver the very best digital knowledge content to help you do the best job you can for your clients at no cost to you. That is why we will be sharing these results with them, so they can provide content that you want and need.

Many may not be fully aware reading this Bento edition that the Panacea community is a very influential one. It is predominately made up of some 20,000 smaller directly regulated firms spread all around the UK. If you and your IFA colleagues were looked at as a distribution channel, you hold very considerable sway over 70% of all UK intermediated distribution business worth some £8bn in premiums and fund inflows in 2020.

The firms that support us recognise your importance to them.

So, with all that in mind, I thought you would be interested in seeing the content thoughts of those IFAs who took time out to help us to help you get better, relevant, timely and easily digestible knowledge from our comms.

You may also not be aware that much of the content we put out has CPD attached to it, and, your very own CPD record regarding what you read, view or listen to and when.

No other online sources, trades included, do what we do or in the way that we do it Panacea is simply unique and that is totally down to you and your peers, thanks for helping us try to be better in what we are trying to do for you.

Finally, we did offer a prize of best “English fizz’ via a draw of respondents. Congratulations go to Paul Jones at Mackenzie Financial Planning.

Spot the Difference: 72,000 Names, But No Paraplanners

The FCA Register lists over 72,000 individuals across advice, mortgage, and compliance roles — yet not a single paraplanner in sight. Could adding paraplanners to the FCA Directory or introducing a competency sign-off process help clarify accountability, or would it add unnecessary cost and complexity — especially for outsourced providers?

Should Paraplanners Be More Formally Recognised by the FCA?

Many paraplanners have expressed a desire for their work to be recognised as a profession in its own right, rather than simply a support function. Formal recognition could support that aim, reinforcing standards, career pathways and professional identity. We’d welcome your thoughts — whether a paraplanners, advisers or compliance professional — on how best to strike the right balance.
