Altruistic, community driven support

You may be a little puzzled as to why I am mailing you, especially in the post GDPR world? The following may help explain a little more, in particular about what we do, why and with who as well as ensuring that we remain compliant under the ‘legitimate interest’ aspects of GDPR.

In 1989 I founded a Thames Valley based small advisory business and ran it for 18 years, it was subsequently acquired by a bigger firm some 13 years ago.

I launched Panacea Adviser in February 2007 as an altruistic and very specific attempt to redress the balance of provider resource and relationship support that had been heavily weighted in favour of networks in particular at the very real expense of smaller DA businesses.

Panacea provides free online access to the very latest tools, research, educational support and business development ideas from product providers and support services to Financial Advisers, Mortgage Brokers and Paraplanners, all in one place.

Our community has grown from 100 small advisers supported by eight providers in 2007 to a community of 23,472 (as at June 2018) validated financial services professionals, supported by 40 firms in 2018.

Equifax Touchstone’s analysis of our community at June 2018 shows that:

  • The Panacea community now includes at least one adviser from a third of all active advisory firms in the market!
  • An average adviser firm within the Panacea community writes 2.6 times more business than a firm that isn’t part of the Panacea community.
  • Adviser firms that are part of the Panacea community control 63% of the total business on platforms.
  • Advisers within the Panacea community write 59% of all business written across group pensions, individual pensions, individual protection and investments.

This community has grown organically over the last 12 years, we have very little budget for marketing and what we do is totally free for IFAs. We continue to receive glowing feedback from our community and providers firms plus we have been awarded with a number of accolades, so we must be doing something right![SP1]

Panacea acts as a much-needed voice for the directly authorised adviser, debating and, if necessary, challenging and briefing the regulator, providers and other policymakers about issues affecting our community, such as the very high cost of the FCA, the effect of CMCs on adviser firms and raising awareness of the many unintended consequences of regulation

We believe Panacea Adviser is a shining example of how a community driven service with zero links to intermediated distribution and the associated revenues and retentions can support adviser firms and create better consumer outcomes.
