Aviva: Which community project will win your support?

Voting is now open in our annual community fund initiative, with funding of up to £25,000 each on offer to the winning entries.

We’ve received hundreds of entries into this year’s Aviva Community Fund which gives financial support to help community groups and charities bring their project ideas to life – including many supported by advisers.

Tom Daniell, retail marketing director at Aviva, said. “All over the country, local community projects are using ordinary objects to do extraordinary things. From a gardening trowel to a football, any thing can mean everything when it comes to improving local lives through a community project.

“That’s what the Aviva Community Fund is all about – helping communities make a big difference through small changes. And by voting for a project, you can make a real difference.”

Last year, Genesis Trust Bath was supported by Parallel Investment Management as they won funding to install a new shower and washing facilities in the homeless shelter they run.

And the Cameron Grant Memorial Trust won funding to help them produce and distribute their ‘Cameron’s Coasters’ – drinks coasters which are helping young people throughout the UK open up about their mental health.

Evan Grant, who runs the charity with his wife Carol, said: “Securing funding from Aviva has helped us in several ways. The voting process itself gave us great succour because so many people wanted to vote for us. And then of course the money that came from Aviva also helped us get started.”  

Part of the funding pot is reserved especially for projects submitted by advisers or advice firms, and many have been busy submitting entries on behalf of clients or local community groups.

Aviva’s Tom Daniell added: “We are passionate about community wellbeing and believe it’s important to work with advisers to support community groups that carry out inspiring work across the UK.” 

To vote for a community project, visit Aviva Community Fund. Voting for projects closes on 21 November, with the winners announced on 16 January 2018.
