Part 3: Major Improvements to Rathbones Multi-Asset Portfolios
Enhancing the fund range
For the benefit of your clients, Rathbones have several important announcements to make about their multi-asset range of funds; here is our third and final update from this set:
“We will enhance our range of funds with a new edition in the autumn that will appeal to clients seeking an income.”
On the 1st of October, we are launching, subject to FCA approval, the Rathbone Strategic Income Portfolio, a global multi-asset income fund to complement the Rathbone Strategic Growth Portfolio. Sustainable income (paid monthly) and growth targets are key for a fund aiming to deliver a minimum nominal gross yield of 3% at current interest rate levels and a targeted total return of CPI +3% to 5% over a five to seven-year investment horizon.
Sense and suitability
The fund is aimed at medium-risk investors and its asset allocation and risk rating will mirror that of the Rathbone Strategic Growth Fund. However, the portfolio will seek to hold underlying investments that can produce a realistic and sustainable monthly yield, as well as preserve capital. This combination may make it suitable for those seeking an element of income drawdown from their investments. Financial advisers should determine where it fits in their clients' portfolios but we do suggest that it is suitable for inclusion in SIPPs, ISAs, and Junior ISAs, and may be a reasonable stand-alone investment. Both income and accumulation share classes will be available.
